Description
A carved stone statue by Fran Jenkins of an otter perched on a rough piece of rock. Cut from the same piece of stone, the otter is polished and has a dark surface, while the rock is rough and notched and has a grey surface. A plaque is set into the rock portion of the statue with a dedication to the Doman Group from the Royal Bank of Canada. The statue sits on a wooden mantelpiece with some other Herb's other accolades, including the plaque presented to him by the Nanaimo Harbour Commission and a framed photograph of unidentified people holding autumn leaves. Royal Bank of Canada is a Canadian multinational financial services company founded in 1864. Fran Jenkins is a Canadian artist who was born in 1933.

Text on plaque reads "Presented to the Doman Group by the Royal Bank of Canada December 15, 1987 in commemoration of past achievements and a wish for future success". Signature on statue reads "[Ross?]/85 Fran Jenkins". Visible text on other accolade reads "[Port of Na]naimo presented to [H.]S. Doman [presid]ent of Doman Industries [by the] Nanaimo Harbour Commission [as th]e first user of Duke Point Shipping Terminal December 1, 1981". Note: Date listed refers to the dedication on the statue, not the date the photograph was taken.
