Description
Photograph collage of the Deo family. From the left: Taken in Almaza, Cairo in 1943, photo shows Pritam Singh Deo standing in the top row, second from the left. He was in Cairo attending a course known as Gas School during his time spent serving in the Indian Army. The second portrait is of the Deo family in India in 1964, in their village of Kharoudi. Since Asa Singh was in North America, his brother was the patriarch of the family. He carries the family gun both signifying his status as a marksman and as the protector of the extended family. Sitting from left to right, Udham Kaur Deo (mother of Sohan), Pritam Singh Deo (father of Sohan), Hoshnak Singh Deo (grandfather Asa Singh's brother), Nand Kaur Deo (Hoshnak's wife), Bago (Hoshnak's daughter), Mohinder (Hoshnak's daughter-in-law) with her two daughters Deesho and Baksho. Standing from left to right, Paramjit Singh Deo (brother of Sohan), Taranjit Kaur Deo (cousin), Surjit Singh Deo (brother of Sohan), and Parminder Singh Deo (brother of Sohan). Sohan Singh is missing in this photo.
