Description
Jasmer Kaur Alamwala was born in village Nathuwala in Punjab. She married in 1957, to Daljit Singh Alamwala. She first came to Canada in 1959, with the couple's eight month old son soon after her husband was able to sponsor them. Jasmer Kaur gave birth to two sons, Sukhwinder and Kulvir, and two daughters, Kulwant and Baljit, at the Duncan Hospital. When she came to Canada, her brother Bikar was already living in Duncan with his family. Jasmer Kaur speaks about the types of clothing she would wear and her experience adjusting to life in Canada. She further speaks about her husband's work experience at a sawmill in Honeymoon Bay.
