His subsequent films, though few, have all won national awards and the admiration of discerning viewers. Based on a short story, ‘Karinagaragalu’ by well-known writer Banu Mushtaq, the film tells the story of Hasina, a lively young woman with three daughters and a ‘loving’ husband, who is abused and abandoned when the fourth child on the way also turns out to be a daughter. Hasina rebels, she fights, she seeks justice..." -Kabir Cultural Centre "Girish Kasaravalli was born on 3 December 1950 in Kesalur, Karnataka, India.
