Jeavan Deol’s great grandfather, Indar Singh, was born in 1888 in Village Ghuman in Punjab, India. He first arrived in Victoria, BC by S. S. Tartar on October 7, 1907. Jeavan’s great grandmother, Basant Kaur, was born in 1909 in Village Akalia in Punjab, India. They had three children named Juarkor, Ajaeb Singh, and Gur Bakhsh Singh. Jeavan’s family settled in Coquitlam as Indar Singh worked in the Fraser Mills as a mill worker for decades.
