Charan Gill’s father, Phangan Singh Gill, was born in Punjab on April 6, 1912 and arrived in Vancouver, Canada on January 20, 1930. Charan’s mother, Banto Kaur Gill, was born in Vancouver on August 26, 1928. They were married in 1946, and Charan Gill was born in 1948. She has two siblings, Hardave and Vicky. Phangan Singh Gill and his family were successful in the Thoroughbred Racing Industry from 1950 to 1994. Charan’s mother, Banto Kaur Gill, was an outstanding community activist and received many awards, including the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal.
