Description
CIPA Lumber Co. dropsorter Boota Rai, wearing a hardhat and work gloves, turns away from his workstation in the sawmill to pose for a photo. Before him is a long, flat track covered in sawdust and various squared boards. Loose boards and tangled electrical cables can be seen at his feet. From File "CIPA Sawmill, Nanaimo". CIPA Lumber Co. Ltd. is a subsidiary of ITOCHU Corporation. The role of a dropsorter at a Lumber Mill is to determine where each piece of lumber has to go based on the lumber thickness, width, length, species, quality, and other factors.
