Description
Certificate of Appointment presented to Michael Norbury on his appointment as the 2nd Lieutenant, land forces in the British Indian Army from June 25th 1940. The certificate was issued in the name of "George the Sixth" in the 4th year of his reign at the Court of Saint James on September 27th 1940. The certifiate has a note of complement dated October 10th 1946 from the Secretary of Military Department at Indian offices based in London, UK.

The certificate was signed as "George R. I." at the top-left, which means it is signed by "George the Sixth" and R.I. is an abbreviation for Regina Imperatrix signifing the King-Emperor of India.
The certificates mention "George the Sixth" as the king-emperor of the Great Britain, ireland and the Briish Dominions beyond the seas which included India as well at that time.
